Our job is about hope. Many of our clients have commented at the end of treatment that they were surprised to feel so much better. They had not hoped that they would ever find relief from the concerns that brought them to therapy. It is a joy and a privilege to share in the journey of healing in which our clients are engaged. It is not only beautiful to see this change take place - it is sacred.
Therapy is an extremely individualized pursuit. One thing people from all walks of life have in common is the uniqueness of their story and experiences. Taking the time to listen to and understand each person's story is paramount to our approach to therapy.
Our team specializes in working with anxiety, depression, self-harm, and trauma survivors. Our therapists have trained extensively in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT) to treat acute or developmental trauma and traumatic grief. We use education, coping skills, and a narrative component to help our clients overcome their traumatic experiences. We have a special place in our hearts for postpartum depression and those who struggle with eating disorders.
Children and Teens
It is of utmost importance to us to be respectful of our clients. Even with children, we strive to develop an egalitarian relationship to help them feel safe and set the stage for self-discovery. We balance this by providing directives and structure when appropriate. We have a registered play therapist (RPT) on staff who uses play-based techniques and expressive arts to engage children and adolescents.
For married partners and couples, our therapy focuses on the most current and research based approaches available. Our couples therapist practices Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which aims to address the core issues at the foundation of the relationship rather than merely treating the symptoms. EFT is unique because it focuses on developing secure attachment between partners while simultaneously exploring each partner's individual background.
Expressive Arts Therapy
Our team loves integrating arts with therapy. Self expression is a natural creative outlet that exists in everyone. This form of therapy specifically relies on everyone's natural internal ability to process feelings and heal from the inside. Artistic interests are highly individualized and may include painting, dancing, singing, or a combination of these. This form of therapy is effective for children and adults of all ages. Sometimes it is the whimsical, simpler joys of the world that bring us healing.
